February Wipocalypse: many stitches and a happy news!

Hi!
In the last days I managed to get a lot of stitches done: good for the Wipocalypse check in.
I worked on HOAN for the italian board LHN sal: my goal for the month was to stitch half of the house and it's done.

Then I stitched something for the Secret Stitching Sweetheart organized by Jo, so no pic yet, you'll have to wait until Valentine's Day!

Finally I started Chrsitmas Rules for the italian board Lizzie Kate sal: my goal is to stitch two blocks a month, so I'm already late!

Don't ask me why the word "Christmas" is of two different reds: I've stitched it with DMC 321, of which I have to skeins. I used both without noticing any difference and the end of the word turned out darker! Can you see any differences between these two?!

And I also managed a few stitches on Floral Posy too, the snow was good and let me go over at boyfriend's twice this past week. Sorry no pics of it but are just a very few stitches!

And then, see where beads have appeared:

Her wings are still unfinished, but today when I put her back on the frame I couldn't resist and I put a few beads on!

For the happy news, today I passed my last exam at university! Yay!!

Theme-a-licious: Jardin January and Fangirl February

Hello!
I'm a little late for the Theme-a-licious check in, but I've been very busy latley.
Yesterday I had my last but one exam at university which went pretty good, only one to go now!!!
And then I had my very first job interview, I was so nervous!! I have another one tomorrow and another one on Mondaly next week! I do hope so much to find a job now that universtiy is coming to an end!

Now on to more interesting news, for Jardin January I stitched only on Floral Posy by Vervaco which looks exactly as I showed you after the IHSW because we've been covered with snow these past days, so I couldn't go over at boyfriend and stitch on it this past week: hoping to make some progress tonight, hoping snow doesn't decide to show up again!

For Fangirl February I'm stitching on Mirabilias of course!
I want to finish JGF and after that it's time for Royal Holiday to come out of the drawer!
She's been very neglected, didn't saw a single stitch in 2011!

A frogging IHSW and TUSAL

Hi there!

First, welcome to my brand new followers!

Here I am with the progress of the IHSW: as the title says it involved some frogging... but this is bound to happen since it seems I lost the ability to count to four!
This is Red Thread before the IHSW:

I had to frog all the pale blue xxx because they were misplaced, just one thread over the border, not two. I had already started to stich the snowman when I realised so it had to be frogged too! And I also misplaced one of the eyes, so frogging again!
Anyway in the end I managed to get rid of all those frogs, and I finished the block.

But with all this frogging going on HOAN didn't see the light in the weekend!
While at boyfriend's I stitched on Floral Posy

Finally a picture where you can clearly see where it has been already stitched and where not.
When I showed the picture for the Theme-a-licious I said that all the dark green has been already stitched last year (I had frogs in my mind when I wrote it), because as you can see in that pic, lots of dark green stitches were still to be done!!!
Now, they're all done, along with some olive green.

IHSW weekend

This weekend I'll be working on Red Thread while at home: it saw a little progress since last time.

If I finish the square before the end of the weekend I'll stitich on Home of a needleworker, that now looks like this.

While at boyfriend's I'll stitch on Floral Posy:

As you know, I'm a cat lover! Cats are by far my favourite animals! And I've seen that this seems to be something quite common amongst all the crafty ladies here in Blogland.
So I've come up with this idea: a blog to share all our work cat-related: stitched cats, amigurmi cats made with crochet, a quilt with cats, anything!
I've created this little blog: Cats and cross stich where we can share all our cat-creations!! I hope you'll like this idea and if you're doing something cat-related, or you've done it in the past, I'd love you to join so that you can share your work. And if you've never done anything, but you're a cat lover just the same, come and see, maybe you'll get inspired!

Theme-a-licious: Jardin January

Here it's my check-in for the theme-a-licious: for this month's theme, Jardin January, I'm stitching this tapestry kit by Vervaco: Floral Posy. Here's my wip so far:

I' m sorry I can't take a better picture of it, I know it's hard to see what has been already stitched and what not. So far I've stitched all the dark blue and dark green already last year.
In the last days I've stitched all the yellow and the orange and almost all the bright red.
I'm making slow progress on this because I keep it at boyfriend's so I stitch it only when I spend the evening over there.
Off to see the other check-ins, I'm sure I'll see wonderful projects.

Progress on JGF and a new start

I've been madly stitching of JGF to finish her dress and here I am:

How cute is that, I love it!!! I almost can't believe that I've done it!!! You see all those little holes? The're all for the beads!!!! I think I'll go mad attaching all of them! This fairy calls for 8 different types of beads, and of 2 colours 2 packages are needed... I think this is one of the most heavily beaded Mirabilia.

And here is a look at her from head to feet:

As you can see all the white in her wings is still to be stitched, but I prefered to leave it until the end, to avoid the white to get dirty.
I'd love to keep stitching her, but I've planned to stitch many other things in January so I had to put her aside.

One thing that I'd wanted to start is the Bent Creek series "The red thread". I decided to stitch it after seeing it all done by Michelle.
So this is my start on it:

I'm planning to stitch a block a month, hoping to have it finished by the end of the year.

I've got 2 crochet ta -dah (happy dances) to show you in the next posts, hope you'll like them.

January Wipocalypse

Full moon tonight, so time for the first wipocalypse post!
I've been madly working on JGF lately, here it is her back in December

The dress is almost finished!!! Then I'm back on the upper part to stitch the white of the wings and finish with backstitch and then it'll be beading time!!!
I've got other things I've got to work on in January, so I think that or I finish her within a week or I'll have to put her aside, and I really don't want to, so I'm back to stitching her tonight!

Theme-a-licious and Wipocalypse

I decided to sign up for these two SALs beacuase they look quite fun, and I think they'll give me the opportunity to reduce the number of my wips!

Theme-a-licious is hosted by Heather at It's geek to me: the idea is that every month is dedicated to a theme, and your stitching have to match it.
Now is Jardin January so I've decided to work on Floral Posy a kit by Vervaco that I've already done once. I started it last year but I put just a very few stitches on that.
I'll post a picture of the wip on the 15th and on the 31th of January.
I'm in another two SALs on an italian board, and for those I'm stitching La balancoire and Home of a needleworker, both calls for a wip update at the end of the month so I'll stitch on those two also. If I could dedicate the entire stitching time of the month to Floral Posy I think I could finish it.
But I've got to admit that right now I'm stitching on January Garnet Fairy, I'm back in love with her and I really can't put her aside.

The other themes are:

As for Wipocalypse, is hosted by Melissa at Measi's Musings: the idea of this is really simple: since it looks like the world will end at the end of 2012 we can't leave our wips unfinished, so this year we have to concentrate on them to try and finish all of them by December 21th,2012!!!

Here are the wips that I'm planning to work on:
1 - January Garnet Fairy - Mirabilia (more then half done, I'll finish it!)
2 - Royal Holiday - Mirabilia (just a few stitches - I'd like to finish it)
3 - Calendar Cats - Margaret Sherry (11 out of 12 cats already done, I'll finish it!)
4 - La balancoire - Nimue (just started but it's not a big chart, I think I can finish it)
5 - V is for Valentine - Victoria Sampler (same as above)
6 - Tree of stitches - Abi Gurden (halfway through, I'll finish it!)
7 - Home of a Needleworker - Little House Needleworks (still a lot of stitches to be done, but I'm confident it'll turn into a HD!)
8 - Spot of - Drawn Thread (I really want this to be finished, I think it'll be my goal for Altius August!)
9 - Paradigm Lost - Long Dog Sampler (the goal here is to finish page 3 and stitch both pages 4 and 5!!!, it'll be on air on Amazon April!)
10 - Christmas Rules - Lizzie Kate (new start)
11 - The red thread - Bent Creek (new start)
12 - Season Kittens - Dimension (I start this after finishing Calendar Cats)
13 - Degree - Tatty Teddy (I stitch this after I graduate, don't know yet if it'll be in March or July)

All my other wips aren't a priority so I'm not putting them on the list, but I'll ty to put some stitches on them too, maybe on March Madness!

So as you can see I have a lot of stitches to do, but this year I'd like to stitch more and crochet less, since this last year I crocheted so many things!

Can't wait to see the progresses of everyone else on these SALs!

IHSW progress

This weekend has been the last IHSW of the year, and I decided to stitch on January Garnet Fairy becase I neglected her a lot lately.
When i picked her up she looked like this:

Not a lot of work done, still a lot to do, and for sure I won't be able to finish her by the end of the year as I intended to do.

Before the end of the year I'll stitch on Calendar Cats to try to finish at least it!

Some words on Calendar Cats

First of all, thank you for your kind words on my little cat, I love him too.
I just realized that my updates on this project haven't been really accurate, so I'd like to make a little recap on it.
I bought Calendar Cats as a kit from Sew and So back on August 2007, after lurking at it for some time.
I started stitching on it as soon as it arrived, starting from the center, the May Cat.
Then on September of 2007 I decided to stitch a cat a month, so I left the May cat unfinished and I moved to the September one.
I stayed stick to the rule of a cat a month until February 2008, but skipping the December cat. Then it became a UFO as I was working on so many other projects!

I then completed the March cat and the June cat sometime between 2008 and 2010.

Back last year I made the August cat, and that was the last time I talked about it here, until now.

But earlier this year I made the April cat and I've finally finished n.1, May cat, here they are.

IHSW: July cat HD and a new start

This weekend was IHSW so I put away the crochet and the knitting needles and I just stitched.
First I worked on Calendar Cats, I finished the July cat, a really cute one, that holds a basket of summer flowers. Now just one cat is missing, the December one, so I'm sure I'll finally finish this project by the end of the year.

Then I started a new project "La balancoire" by Nimue, a little baby fairy on a swing.

I've also worked on Home of a Needleworker by LHN but it was a very tiny progress, so no pic!
Like last month, I really enjoyed hermitting, it's great to have someday every month to be dedicated to stitching.
This week I'll try to find some more stitching time to work on La balancoire and on HOAN, but I must bring the crochet back because winter is coming, I've already caught a sore throat so I'd better finish the scarf I'm making and get started with a beret!

This weekend is IHSW again!
Last month I finished my Forest Goddess thank to it.
For this month I want to stitch on three things:
First I want to finish my July Cat from Calendar Cats which is nearly finished, just some blackwork to be done.
Second I want to put some stitches on Home of a Needleworker, which is a long time ufo.

Third I want to start a new project, La Balancoire by Nimue.

Hope to find enough time to hermit, and I can't wait to see the progresses of all the others Hermiters.

Lots of frogging going on!

In my last post I showed you the shawl I'm working on and I've told you that it was about time for the 200 gr. pic. When I finished the yarn the battery of my camera was dead, so I put it on charge and I just kept on hooking...

When I get almost at the end of the next ball of yarn, I discovered that I made a mistake a lot of rounds before....
So here I am, back on round 39, after frogging 11 rows....

You can see that it looks pretty much as in the last pic, but you can also see the ball of yarn that came from all the frogging...

I really need to check the pattern more often and not rely too much on my memory, it failed me this time!!

And this wasn't the only thing that I frogged lately: I'm learning to knit and I've made an attempt at this pattern, and when I was halfway I realised that it was turning out too big, so I had to start again from the beginning.

I've also stitched lately, I'm trying to finish my Calendar Cats, July cat almost done.... a little HD is coming!

Alpine Shawl

I've been wanting to make a shawl for some time now, and finally I found the right pattern and the right yarn, so here I am.

I love knitted shalws, they all look gorgeous, but since I'm just mastering stockinette stitch, I've decided to make a crocheted one.
I've chosen Alpine Shawl by Cristina Mershon and I'm making it with this yarn: Grignascoknits Loden in the color 607 a very dark green.

Today I'm really happy, I've finally finished my first Mirabilia!!!
Thanks to the IHSW I picked her up friday evening and I didn't left her until she was finished!
So here she is....

Of course it doesn't take more than 3 years (OMG!!!) (I got wrong, I started her on February 2009, not 2008, so it makes more then 2 years - OMG as well!!!) to finish her, but before her I had just stitched very simple things like LHN, so it wasn't easy to learn how to tackle with all those colours! Also it's my first beaded project and I've learned that beading while stitching isn't really wise, that's why JGF didn't saw a bead yet.

Anyway, I loved to stitch her, she was the first I fell for when I first discovered Mirabilia, and still now is one of my favourites.

I really like the beads around her head:

I think it took me so long to get her finished because of her skin: at the beginning I was making it over 2, then I saw a Mirabilia with the skin made over 1, I decided that it was just gorgeous and I had to make my FG over 1 too!
So I frogged what I've already stitched and restarted it over 1..... it was a nightmare!
So I frogged again and re-restarted over 2....
Then I think I got mad, fallen in love with over 1 again....you now, frogged, re-re-restarted...
In the end I had to confront the truth... I would never finish her, stitching over 1 was really upsetting me, I didn't like the way it was turning out, I got immediately tired when stitching it, so I took my final decision, and finally she had all of her skin done over 2!

A month later... I have autumn

Finally autumn is coming my way! It's still really hot in here these days, but just while the sun is out, while the evenings are turning quite freezy.

The other day me and my boyfriend made a little stroll in the woods near his house searching for sweet chestnuts. This year the weather hasn't been perfect for them but we manage to find some.

I really enjoied spending an hour in the nature, with just the sounds of the wind through the leaves and the water flowing by. This is what I call a simple peasure that makes my day!

Sorry for the blurry picture but clearly photography is not for me!!!

P.S.: I've just signed for IHSW for the first time, I really need to dedicate a little time to stitching, all my wips have been neglected so much in the last couple of months!
I think I'll try to finish Forest Goddess which looks like that right now...

I've made my final decison about her skin, and I'll make over 2 beacuse the fabric is 32 ct and I really can't stand making it over 1. Plus I've made the skin of JGF over 2 on 28 ct fabric and I think it looks just nice, so over 2 will be!

I want autumn

As Vanessa, who's craving for autumn, me too, I really can't wait for it to arrive!
It can be weird, but it's my favourite season, cold, but not freezing; still full of colours, with all the leaves turning bright red, yellow or orange...
So, while waiting for it to arrive, let just dream of it with some autumn images found on weheartit a nice place that I've recently discovered where you can save all the images that you find on the web that touch your heart!

DMC Colour Card

Last year I started stitching the DMC Colour card: it seemed a good idea at the beginning, but then it turned out that's a really boring stitching! And this is why, I'm just at the fourth column, even though I started it almost a year ago!

I think I should try and make a colour a day, so maybe it'll be less boring, but I've got so many wonderful wips, both cross stitch and crochet that this one keeps being neglected!

Japanese Flower

In the last months I've made some progresses on my past crochet projects, the Japanese Flower scarf and the granny square blanket.

This is the scarf so far, with 22 flowers completed and some already joined together.
This project is now on hold beacuse I'd like to add other colours in it, but it's really hard to find alpaca wool in bright colors.
I've alread added the yellow but I'm not really happy about it, because it's bigger than all the other colours so the flowers with yellow in them are a little bit bigger too!
Anyway, I'd like to add a pale green and a pink, hope to find them soon.

My little fairy is growing! I'd never thought that I could like so much a project with so much pink involved! I'm not at all a pink lady, I love all the cold colours, all the greens, the blues.

I'm getting scared at all the empty spaces that I'm living, to make room for the beads.
Beading is going to be a long work, and this chart calls for 8 (!) different beads!! And I don't think this is one of the most heavily beaded Mira!
Anyway, I'm sure that she'll be just great with all her blings on!

Lately I've been busy crocheting little things.
Inspired by wonderful Lucy of Attic 24, I've made:
Wrtist warmers (they still need to be sewned)

Little flower to turn into a brooch

Then, since this year here in Italy we're celebrating our 150th anniversary, I've made this patriotic flower, with the colors of our flag, using the tutorial of Teresa,whose Youtube channel is just great, I'm learning a lot with her!

Also from a Teresa's tutorial I've made this little box.

And finaly I've made a cell phone pouch.

I'm also working on another project of Teresa, the ladybug.

And last but not least, I've made a scarf for myself, exactly the same as the one that I've made for my boyfriend this past winter, beacuse I've really fallen in love with that particular yarn.

A sad blogaversary

2004 - 2011

She use to spend the night hunting outside our gate, waiting for rats to come out of the canal that flows just opposite the road. It is a byway, but this allows people to think that they can speed as mush as they please.... many times I found her out there, at the border of the road, and I was afraid for her, and this night has been her last one.
I'm very sad, she was an affectionate little girl, and we'll miss her a lot.

I'm really loving this blanket, I've put a lot of efforts in it to make it grow during these months.
I've already made more than half the squares I'm supposed to do, 50 out of 88 total.
Some rows are almost done, while all the other squares have just been joined randomly together.

There are some squares I'm really in love with, like the followings:

I'm also pleased that my boyfriend really likes these squares too, since this will be a gift for him, likely for Christmas.

7 - I'm a Mirabilia addict! There are so many other beautiful ladies, such as those of Joan Elliott or Passione Ricamo, but I think I'll never be able to stitch them, because I want to stitch all the Mirabilia that I like first and they're 60 out of a total of 115, and I'm leaving out all the pixies and all the other smaller designs, much of those I love too!!! I think this is going to take quite a while..

For a couple of twins

Last March one of my cousins gave birth to a gorgeous couple of twins, a baby boy and a baby girl, named Christian and Aurora.

So I picked up my needles and threads and I made two bibs and two pacifier carriers.

Presenting January's Garnet Fairy

Here it's how it looks my first Mira fairy, after working on her from time to time from the beginning of the year and up till now:

I really like her, especially I loved to stitch the Waterlilies, they're really great; I also liked making the backstitch on her face, it came out nice, while usually my backstitch never turns out a great deal...
I really can't wait to reach the end of the stithcing, I want to attach the beads! Especially in her hair, I like her hairdo a lot...

I'm making her as a SAL on a Italian forum: the goal is to make her in four steps lasting three months each. The first step, ending March 31st, is to finish the top half (leaving out the white stitches, the backstitch on it and all the beads, and I've done it!

I worked a lot on her in the last two weeks, because I really wanted to reach my goal, even if I had to sacrifice a lot of hooky time to make it! But I like her so much that I'm happy just the same!

I'm going on with the granny square blanket: 38 squares completed and 10 already blocked.

I'm blocking them now because I'll be joing them with the join-as-you-go method working the last round.

I haven't made a lot of progress on it lately because I came back to stitch a lot (coming soon), but also because I've begun a new project: the Japanese Flower Scarf of Lucy (endless source of inspiration):

These are my first 7 flowers, I'm making one a day because I had to restrain myself or I'll be working with this gorgeous yarn all day long, forgetting everything else!

The yarn is 100% baby alpaca (which cost quite a fortune, 6 € each...), in 6 colours:

I'd liked brighter colours but my LYS just had these, so I think I'll be hunting new shops in the next days.

February has been an intense hooky month!
I've started working on a blanket, inspired by one made by great Lucy: it's a granny square that will sit on the sofa of my boyfriend's house. It will be my gift to him for our fourth anniversay on September.
I'm using Derby yarn by Grignasco which is a blend of 70% pure wool and 30% acrilic in 19 different colours:

My granny squares have 8 rounds, the first 7 random and the last round will be the same for all the squares.
Up til now I've made 33 squares with 7 rounds, I'll do the last while joing them all together.

Here's all my yarn and squares packed in my bag which finally has a lining:

And now, I show you my first granny square project, a scarf which I started back last year and was finished around mid January:

It turned out so big!

It gets you so warm that I used it only in the really freezing days, even though I might be reusing it now since here the weather is really cold and rainy in the last days...

Hating over 1 skin!!!

After changing my mind a lot of times, I decided to make Forest Goddess' skin over 1...
bad decision!
Over 1 on 32ct is a nightmare, I think I'll never do that again, even though I've already started JGF' skin over 1 too!! But it's 28ct, I found it easier.

Anyway, here's the lady, almost done!

Not a lot more to do, except the skin, some beading and some last xs in her hair: hope to have a HD soon!

Last September I joined a SAL on an italian cross stitch forum: stitch a Mirabilia through 2011.
Back then I thought that my Forest Goddess would have been finished by now, and my Royal Holiday would have been around 30% done, so I sign up to stitch January's Garnet Fairy.
Things really aren't as I thought, because FG is still unfineshd and RH is not nearly 5% done.
Anyway, since I already bought almost everything to make JGF, here I am, ready to start my third Mira.
On the 28ct Sudden Storm by Silkweaver you can see the Waterlilies (which are just gorgeous, even though they cost a little fortune), the Kreiniks and 4 of the 8 different beads that the chart calls for. Don't know why, but I forgot to put the chart in the picture, silly me!

The SAL is divided into 4 steps: every three months is required to show your progress, that should be a quarter of the chart, so that on the last step you'll have it all done.

I really hope to be able to sticht her all by the end of the year, and also to have FG all done.

I disappeared again for more than 2 months, sorry!
The fault is all of a little object called crochet hook, from which I've been kidnapped!!!
I decided to learn how to crochet because of my boyfriend: I told him I'd like to learn how to sew properly and by so being able to make him a patchwork blanket. But he told that he doesn't like such blankets, he preferes crocheted ones, like those that his mum and aunt had made for him many years ago, so here I am, buyng crochet hook and wool.
And now I'm totally in love with it!
I took all my needleworks and store them away.
Up till now I realized a bag for me, a scarf for him, and 2 Christmas decorations for his mummy: the bag and the decorations are two projects realized by Lucy of Attic24, she's really lovely!

Now I'm making a granny square scarf for myself: these squares are really addictive!

I'd try to get back to stitching in 2011, and to complete some of my too many stitching wips!

Starting Royal Holiday

Finish a project is always good, but it's better to start new ones, so, instead of finishing Forest Goddess, I started my second Mirabilia, Royal Holiday.

Really hard to start this one, becuase the colours at the center are relly close to the color of the fabric, which is Midas Touch by Silkweaver.
She's really a huge lady, and I know she'll take a lot to be finished, but it'll be worth the waiting, since she's really one of the prettiest ladies of Mirabilia.

Little Happy Dance

On saturday I've finished August cat, no. 8 out of 12 of the Calendar Cats by Margaret Sherry.

I'm finally starting to see the end of this big project, which I wanted to stitch in a year, a cat per month, while it's been on the wip list for three years now.
Still four cats to go, April and May (just a little of backstitching), July and December.
This is how it looks like right now.

The goal is to finish it by the end on the year.

Today I recived a lot of wonderful stash for future projects!

First two Mirabilia charts: Winter Queen and January's Garnet Fairy. I want to stitch them both next year.

Then other two charts, Spring Ride by Lanarte/Stoney Creek and Mermaid Heaven by Pinn

And finally the red and green accessory pack for Heirloom Christmas Sampler by Victoria Sampler

Along with the two Miras I wish to stitch Spring Ride and Heirloom Christmas Sampler next year.

I've alread figured out the Goals List for 2011, while I didn't made one for this year, because I knew that, especially during the first months I wouldn't have time to stitch at all, and so has happened. From now on I think I'll have more time, so I'll try finishing some wip, to have a 2010 finished list not so empty as the one of last year!

Two belated gifts

The first is an apron, on which I've stiched Camomilla from Herbs & Spices of Jeremiah Junction.
This was my Christmas gift for my mum.

This is the last LHN that I've started, back on autumn 2008. It seems I'm unable to focus on little pieces, they always took ages to get finished.
Since I like to sticht seasonally, after autumn 2008, I've worked on it a little this past autumn, and I'll try to finish it this upcoming one.

Hardanger second try

While my first try is still a wip, back this autumn I decided to stitch another hardanger doily as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend's mother.
The original idea was to make it as big as one of their tables, so I made my boyfriend measuring it to be able to re-chart the design to match the table exactly.
It was a heck of a job, and then it turned out soo tiny!
Because, silly me, I didn't consider at all the fabric count!
It was meant to be 20ct, while I made it on 28ct, so it came out even smaller than I thought!

Anyway, apart for the dimensions I'm really pleased as it turned out, and most of all my boyfriend's mother liked it a lot.

Hello everyone!

I do really hope that this 2010 will be a better year, as for stitching, since 2009 wasn't good at all!

You can see this from my 2009 goal's review:
1 - Finish all the LHN, CCN wips: not one :-(
2 -Finish Memories and Calendar Cats: Memories finished on the very last day of the year, pic soon :-) but Calendar cats is still unfinished :-(
3 - Start and finish by December, 24th 2009 Royal Holiday by Mirabilia (anyone that would like to stitch it with me as a SAL is more than welcome!) I just say that this is my first goal for 2010!
4 - Stitch some new LHN and/or CCN: Sarted "Season of growth"
5 - Stitch the 4 Spot of by The Drawn Thread (already kitted up): Spring and summer done, autumn and Winter still to go.
6 - Stitch two pages of Paradigm Lost: Page 2 halfway done, the same for page 3.
7 - Finish page one of C'è una strada nel bosco: I haven't picked it up at all!

So very bad, as you can see! But I won't give up, I'm confident 2010 will be better, so....

Hardanger first try!

So I've finally decided to learn hardanger!
I've bought a book with big pictures to learn it and tried a simple doily, which looked like this before being cut!

And then I've cut it, and with too much confidence, because near the end of it I wasn't paying too much attention on where I was cutting....and the it came!
Cut in the wrong place!

I was lucky, though, the mistake can be arranged by changing the pattern and using fantasy!
It's been parked now, I've lost the mood for working on it, I don't know if you understand...

I'll try and finish it before the end of the year...along with a long list of other things...Help!

I've just started working on Dusk, on which I'm stitching Mirabilia's Forest Goddess, my first Mirabilia!

Here it is my favourite piece so far, I really love it. This past August, stitching almost everyday, I was able to finish the first of the twelve pages. Since then I did't have the time to focus again on it. By the end of 2009 I hope to finish at least another 2 pages of it.

C'è una strada nel bosco (A path in the wood)

All the blurs that you can see are actually leaves, or at least they'll look like that when this will be finished. The problem is that this is just page one halfway done, and the total of the pages is eight! Oh My!

And last but not least comes Calendar Cats. This as recently become a MUST finish. I put a bet on it with my boyfriend, since he keeps saying that I'm only able to start projects but not to finish them. So now this is due to be finished by May, 31st 2009, or I'll lose my bet!

Hello dear stitchers!
I'm back!
Sorry for being away from the blog for 8 months!
The truth is that in these past months I did have very few time to stitching, so I didn't have many progress to show here.
I promise I'll try to do better in the future.

At the end of last year I stated a goal for 2008, and it was to read at least two books a month throughout the year. This was dued mostly to the fact that I keep buying books but I read just some. And I've been succesfull so far!

So I thought that if it worked for books it will work for stitching too!

So, I'll start planning from now on all my stitching.

I've just found out that I've never spoken of Herb Garden in here....sorry about that. Anyway, after finishing Season of Hope I've started this cute project always by LHN someday a month ago.
In my planned stitching for 2008 this is due to be finished by the end of January and I think I can master it.
This was it yesterday evening:After a copule of hours of work I finished the bottom half and moved to the top half.I believe another couple of hours will do.

I haven't "already forgotten" this blog! I know I post quite rarerly in here, but there's a reason: my internet connection, which is REALLY slow ( 56 kb/s). At this speed it takes really a long time to upload photos, and since this blog is about showing my stitching progress, photos are essential!
So this is why I post so rarely, because I've got to be in a real patience mood to be able to endure the sluggishness of the connection!

You see, I'm lazy. This is why I update the blog so rarely and always with really short posts, sorry about that, I'll try to better myself.
About stitching progress, I stitch only for the seasonal sal these days. I've almost finished the November cat and put some stitches on the October one. However I don't think I'll have any time for stitching at all in the next to weeks, I've got to study more and this more includes evenings, my usual stitching time. Also I'm currentlty reading 5 books at a time that I really want to finish soon, so, as always, too many things to do and so few time to do them...

With the new threads I put some stitches on Season of Hope. I'm not satisfied with this project because of the fabric. It's a piece of 14ct ecru Aida I bought a year ago and really I don't like it. It's like the older it gets the more the woof broadens and gets less tight. Sorry but I can't explain this any better.

Last day of holiday

As I said... today is my last day of holiday. Not that I'm sad, I always loved being back to school, but this also means that my first year at university has alreay passed. Oh my God, I can't believe it!
And talking about university, this week I took my last exam and I passed it, which means that I managed to pass (and with good marks) all the exams I was due to pass in my first year! If someone would have told me so when I started it one year ago I wouldn't have believed him!
I think there are a lot of mistakes in these few lines, sorry about that!

As for stitching, this has been a crazy week since I stitched very few and on many things so the progresses are really too little to be shown.
Starting tomorrow I'll try to make a rotation and to stay stick to it.

And last but not least, big congratulations and wishing wells to my cousin Patrizia who's gatting married just today, in fact I should be getting dressed for the wedding right now!
So, better to go!

First progress

Here's my first progress on September Cat from Calendar Cats for the seasonal sal. Another proof of my slowness as a stitcher: this is a two evenings progress... I know it's very little.

Anyway I just have to thank Nicki again for setting up this sal: stitching a cat a month for it I'll be able to finish this project in a year, while, without it, I think it would become another "just started and never ended" project of my.

Seasonal Sal

I finally decided what to stitch for the Seasonal Sal, which starts today, and I chose Calendar Cats. I'll be stitching the three autumnal cats, one per month and if I'll finish before the end of the month I'll put some stitches on the other chart "A path in the wood".

Sunday I managd to reach the end of Season of Rest. I know it's not finished, but I'm down of DMC 839 so the houses will have to wait until my next order to Sew and So to have their roofs. From the day I discoverd that on-line, I've always been buying floss from them, since they sold it at half the price it's sold in the shops of my neighbourhood.

Seasonal SAL

I've just joined a Season sal put up by Nicki. I think it's really a great idea. I've always wanted to be on a SAL, but I never asked to anyone before. This because all the SAL I saw so far are of really beautiful and (for me) difficult to stitch charts, Mirabilia, L&L and so on. I think I'm not yet good enogh at stitching to do these ones, even though I'm thinking about giving myself some Mirabilia charts as a Christmas present!
Anyway, since in this SAL I can stitch whichever chart I like, it just have got to be about a season, I thought I could do it.
The SAL begins Setember 1st and I haven't yet decided what to stitch. I've got two charts that could fit, but still can't decide which of the two pick.
One is "Calendar Cats" by Margaret Sherry: I've just bought it and stitched quite the half of the May cat. Now I could stitch September, October and November ones.
The second is a chart called "C'è una strada nel bosco" that means "There's a street in the wood", which is a autumnal scenary of a path in a wood, and I found it on a magazine. Also this has already been started, but it's so huge (for me, I bet many stitchers more expert than myself would find it little) and I'm such a slow stitcher that I think it'll take me ages to finish it!

A reading finish

Today I finished reading "The Pillars of the earth" by Ken Follet. I loved it.

It's really a great novel, I liked the medieval setting most of all. It's a great story which last throughout almost the 12th century. At the center of the story there's the construction of a cathedral in a small village of Southern England.
At the beginning we find Tom who's trying to find a job to support his family. He's a builder and his greatest dream is to build a cathedral. Finally he settles in Kingsbridge and begin building it. But it will be completed only after many years, troubles, voyages, cheats, love and money affairs, losses and wins.
Just some days ago I found out that a sequel of the book ( World without end) is about to come out. I'm really loking forward to it.

This is a proof of my slowness at stitching: this week I only worked on Season of Rest and I haven't finished it. To be honest I can't finish it because I'm one floss down, but I haven't finished it beacuse of that.
Anyway this is it so far:

I know the photo isn't a great one, but to have it bright I had to take it outside, and outside is too hot for me, so I just took this one and then I ran in. I really hate hot weather.

As last year mid-Auguts holiday has arrived, and the ravers with it! In the wood near where I live there's a great area which officialy is of the Army but in reality is completley abandoned. It's quite far from any village, completly hidden in the wood, so someone thought it a great place for a rave party, which has now started yesterday and will go on at least till wednedsy! The problem is that they keep music so loud that I can clearly hear it even though they're at least 10 kilometers away from my house. People who live nearer can't actually sleep at night. And the problem is that they're so many that is impossible to send them away, also because techinically they're not breaking any law.

Shyness, cats and cross stitch

First of all, I'm shy. Not always, but quite often. Sometimes I'm really too shy.
I'm so shy I found it difficult even to comment on blogs! I nearly do it.
By the way, during this year of blog reading, I found out there are quite a number of cross stitcher that are really fond of cats, there are at least five: Carol, Karen, Katrina, Nicki, Veronica. I really love their work, they're a great inspiration for a newbie like myself. And I love their cat too. In fact I think I love all the cats in the world.
P.S. I'm a cross sticher and a cat lover too!

I really like Little House Needleworks, I'm planning to stitch many projects of this brand. Now I'm working on Season of Rest, while Season of Hope is waiting for some floss to be finished.

Then I'll try make them into pillows, even though I'm not really fond of my sewing abilities...
One year ago I started The Bookshelf which is half way trough, but it has been parked for some months because I realised I made a mistake and it'll take a little bit to undo it, which is a thing I really hate to do.

Already Forgotten

Why I called this blog like that? Becuase I thought of another name, but when the time came to open the blog and give that name to it...I had already forgotten it!

And why my adresss is "I want red hair"? First of all because it was the first available adress of all that I tried, and second, because I really do want to have red hair because it would match with my really pale skin and my green eyes!

Here I am... first post in here, and first post in English, hope I don't mess it up.
Why this blog? Because I feel the need to express myself in English, which is not my language. But I love it so much, much more than my language (which is Italian). I can't tell why things are like that but anyway, this is it.
